MagGuts 2 Conversion for Sig P365 X/XL 12 Round Magazine

I have a mixed review for the MagGuts 2 conversion. I’m 6′ 0′ with normal sized hands, no gorilla paws, and the magazine would pinch my hand during reloads unless I adjusted my grip. That’s not what I want to do or think about if I have to engage a threat. I purchased a mag well and extended base plates which are for the mag well, but no extra round compacity, for my P365X to resolve the issue. The issue with this is, the OEM spring did not seat properly in the base plate and the base plate would slide off during “oh shit” reloads. The company that makes the mag well and base plates states that the MagGuts 2 conversion is compatible and will give you a total of 14 rounds. Sweet… After several attempts, I was able to align the spring under the follower correctly as shown in the directions. This isn’t as simple as other extended base plate/spring swap outs . If not done correctly the follower won’t feed the ammo correctly. I was able to get 14 rounds in the magazine. However, you have to forcefully slam the magazine for the mag release to catch or the magazine will drop out. This happens with the included MagGuts base plate too. In my opinion, trying to stuff 2 extra rounds in the same volume of space meant for 12 rounds with a leaf spring design does not work flawlessly. I still plan on using the conversion because the design of the MagGuts spring plate does seat properly in the base plate which keeps it from easily coming off. Using the MagGuts works well with the other after market parts with only with 12 rounds loaded in the magazine.
